Momentum is a measurement of mass in motion: how much mass is in how much motion. This calculator helps you calculate the momentum of an object given its mass and velocity.

The Formula

$p = m \times v$

Where:

• p: Momentum (kilogram meters per second, kg·m/s)
• m: Mass (Kilograms, kg)
• v: Velocity (Meters per second, m/s)

Example

If a 10 kg object moves at 5 m/s, its momentum is: $p = 10 \text{ kg} \times 5 \text{ m/s} = 50 \text{ kg} \cdot \text{m/s}$
